 I would note here that rather than being one of "any number of possible
 ways to display [names]", the angle bracket style is the standard for IRC.
 This has been consistent in every single IRC client I have used for since
 I began using IRC twelve years ago. People won't regard Pidgin as a "real
 IRC client" if it looks different to everything else.
