 > No no no. Not font zooming. Not relative font size. Not bigger or
smaller. You should just be able to specify the font point size just like
every other program ever created. Simple. Just pop up a windows font
dialog box. Or the GTK+ equivalent.

I think perhaps we're both shooting for two different things:

I think font zooming is a very important option, because I want to let my
friends select their own font and size and then simply zoom it up a level
 so it's readable.

Others simply want all incoming conversations to have the same exact
formatting regardless of the other person's preferences.

I believe that the best way to resolve this would be to have a very clear
check box stating something like "Force incoming messages to the following
font:" And then allow the "Conversation font" GtkFontButton become
available. Otherwise, have a "Font Zoom" option that simply makes all the
fonts in the conversation bigger/smaller while keeping them relative to
 one another.

This way, those of us who want to allow their friends to pick their own
fonts / colors / sizes can do that. At the same time, those of us who
want all incoming conversations to look the same can do that too.

In my opinion this method offers everyone all the control they need and I
really don't see how anyone couldn't be happy with that fix.
