 OK, I think we were talking about 2 different things.  I was talking about
 outgoing messages and you were talking about incoming messages.  This is
 how I would like it to work:

 For outgoing messages you should be able to choose the exact font face and
 point size you want your messages to go out as.  Right now you can't do
 that.  You can only say bigger or smaller.

 For incoming messages you should be able to do 1 of 3 things: display the
 incoming messages in the font that the other user is sending them in,
 override the incoming font to be any font face and point size you'd like,
 or zoom the incoming message in or out.  These settings should be
 available both globally and chat-specific.
