Comment:

 This is a duplicate of both #664 and #1539.

 That said, as I commented on #664, Pidgin does not request focus--it
 simply creates windows and the window manager does whatever it wants to
 with them.  It is not Pidgin's responsibility to hack around stupid window
 managers.  There are plenty of X11 window managers that don't give new
 windows focus automatically, and even those that allow configuration of
 when/if new windows get focus.
