 Okay, that didn't work.

 It's the .gaim file that it's objecting to.  So if you rename that to
 something else that should momentarily fix it.  If you aren't going to use
 gaim again, no problem, doesn't matter, never have to fix the file name.
 C:\Documents and Settings\mynamehere\Application Data\.gaim
 to
 C:\Documents and Settings\mynamehere\Application Data\not.gaim

 But if you haven't totally given up on gaim, the first time you log into
 gaim it's going to make a new .gaim file and ask you to set up your
 accounts.  I can't rename anything to ".gaim" because it doesn't like the
 period, so I just copied my old .gaim files into the new folder. That fix
 seems to be sticking.
