#599: lib errors
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 Reporter:  shoofy        |       Type:  defect
   Status:  new           |   Priority:  minor
Component: pidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.0
 Keywords:                |    Pending:  0
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
 I just installed Pidgin 2 b7 on my Ubuntu Feisty laptop. When I try to
 start it from the terminal it just gives me the following messages:
 {{{
 pidgin: /usr/local/lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available
 (required by /usr/local/lib/libcairo.so.2)
 pidgin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so.0: undefined
 symbol: pango_font_description_get_gravity
 }}}
 The first one appears immediately and the 2nd one after a few seconds. I
 tried running '''pidgin -d > pidgindebug.log''' and I got a log file that
 suggested things were working at it was converting over the old gaim
 preferences, but the 2 errors above both appeared in the terminal and not
 in the log file.

 I can't really figure out what the error could mean, since all of these
 libraries exist and seem to be correctly linked. All my other GTK+ apps
 are working without errors. I once saw similar errors when starting all
 GTK+ apps, but that turned out to be due to an incorrectly defined
 LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable and I checked to confirm that it is
 not set at all right now.

 I'll attach the debug log file in case it helps.
