 Same Problem here. Updated from Gaim to Pidgin 2.0.0 (Linux). First time
 start, everything was fine, all buddy icons were displayed. Today some of
 the icons got lost. So I deleted the .purple directory  and configured
 Pidgin completely new. Now only a small subset of the buddy icons is
 displayed.
