 I submitted this as a feature request to gaim, but I can't find it in the
 pidgin ticket list anywhere:

  * When using Win32 pidgin and you click a contact in the buddy list, and
 then the buddy list loses focus, the highlight is '''exactly''' the same
 colour as the group headings (see attachment). These should at least be
 different colours. It seems like the selection has been chosen based on
 how selections look in the rest of windows (which is fine), but the group
 highlights aren't selections, and the chosen colour makes them look
 selected.

  * There is no way to deselect all buddies and groups. This should be
 possible by selecting white space below all contacts.

  * I would also recommend using a much smaller contrast between the group
 headings and the background (I find that the bold + horizontal offset is
 sufficient separation without the need for the highlight, but I also tried
 an HSV of (0,0,94), and it looks just fine, too -- I included a gimped
 screenshot). The current contrast attracts your eye to the wrong thing.
