#1064: Pidgin encountered errors migrating your settings

 Hi,

I was running Gaim-2.0.0beta6 on a laptop running Windows XP Pro and
upgraded to Pidgin-2.0.0 . When I attempted to run Pidgin for the first
time after the installation I got the error message

'''Pidgin encountered errors migrating your settings from \\AUMLBRO-
 FS0003\Home$\ross.gayler\Application Data\.gaim to \\AUMLBRO-
 FS0003\Home$\ross.gayler\Application Data\.purple. Please investigate and
complete the migration by hand. Please report this error at
 http://developer.pidgin.im'''

and Pidgin exited before starting the user interface. The same error
message occurred on subsequent attempts to start or re-install Pidgin.

I uninstalled Pidgin and installed the debug version, but I can not find
that it has produced a pidgin.rpt file. I presume that the error is
occurring in a separate migration assistant process that crashes before
the debug version of Pidgin has even started.

The .gaim and .purple directories mentioned in the error message actually
live on a LAN but are flagged as being available for use offline on the
laptop. I get the same error no matter whether the laptop is working
online or offline at the time of installation. The old Gaim installation
used to work quite happily with this configuration.

What should I do next to assist diagnosis of this problem?

 Thanks.

 Ross
