 Then no wonder I can't do it at all any more, because I always expand the
 contacts first, before I try to drag a buddy.

 With a non-trivial number of buddy disappearances, I end up even expanding
 both adjacent contacts first, since I would want to know immeidately where
 the buddy has gone to.
