 I'm not at all sure how the 'Configure' button is any more or less
 difficult then the new icon in that dialog. Also, we found that having
 plugins in preferences prevented a number of people from finding them at
 all. Though a number of people are going to fail to find them no matter
 where they live. And unless plugins moved back to the preferences window
 having them add preference pages is just going to confuse everyone even
 more. People already have trouble using plugins that don't use the
 'configure' button to configure them, like plugins that have account
 action, or ones that have buddy list entry right-click items.

 What "near-indispensible features" are you talking about by the way?
