 The output is in pidgin3.log. I started with the blist hidden, made it
 visible, hidden, and visible again, then maximized and restored it two
 times.
 I exited pidgin with the blist restored and visible and after prefs.xml
 was written; "list_visible" was again set to '0' or rather not changed at
 all.

 I'm using a heavily modified Mandrake 9.0 with gtk 2.0.6.
