 bodo: Can you try applying the last patch I attached (gtkblist-window-
 state-hack.patch) and see if it fixes pidgin storing/restoring both the
 hidden and maximized state of the buddy list? You might have problems
 applying it with the two previous patches applied (in which case you
 should try to roll back to the original gtkblist.c first).

 Thanks again for your help. Hopefully this patch will provide an adequate
 work around.
