 I'm digging through Gtk+ ChangeLog's now to see if I can track a version
 down to use for #ifdefs. Since 2.0.6 is still sending us the state change
 events (without the correct mask), we can just query the flags in that
 callback and maintain the correct behavior, even on the older gtk+
 versions.
