 In Gaim pre-2.0beta6 you could click and hold down, see the status menu,
 then move the mouse button and release, like most other GNOME apps.
 Post-2.0beta6, you have to click and release to see that status selector,
 so double the amount of clicks are needed and it's inconsistent with other
 GNOME/GTK apps, and other combo boxes in pidgin (ie: in the preferences).
