Show me where I said that global status is a bad thing? It is great.
However, per-account status management in pidgin simply sucks. Especially
if compared to other IM's
> Do you have suggestions as to how better to present the user with the
ability to pick the status type and message for the per-account exception?
Yes. Take the sim's screenshot or neok's mockup and simply add a "Custom
status..." line at the bottom.

"show me" (c) Morpheus to Neo ;)
Oddly enough, new accounts don't stop you from adding them to the
"accounts" menu but somehow stops you from adding a similar status menu? I
fail to see logic in that.
BTW. Saving statuses... I again fail to see how that's useful (except to a
handful of people, of course) because you have to carefully decide on what
name to chose so that it reflects your actual status (with all the
exceptions included) ...
Additionally there's no way of telling what status I'm in in any of the
networks right now (i may be globally available but disconnected from ICQ
because of network problems)
You fail to realise that for some odd reason no other multiprotocol IM out
there has users requesting pidgin's way of setting/saving/restoring
network statuses. I wonder why? Could it be because Pidgin's 7 steps vs.
other IMs' 3 in the most trivial case is the reason? ;)
