 I don't know why deryni is defending this so hard. The custom status
 selector does indeed suck pretty hard. We've tried subscribing to the
 "make the simple things easy and the complex things possible," philosophy.
 We've focused on making it really easy to set your global status, and
 harder to set weird custom statuses.

 That said, there's no reason not to make the complex status editor better,
 although it's important not to do so at the cost of making the global
 status harder.
