 I'm going to bet this is an OpenFire server and this is the same issue as
 in #2095. Which was a broken implementation of DIGEST-MD5 in the Java SASL
 implementation used be OpenFire, the OpenFire developers hacked around
 this in their code though I am unsure it has made it into a release yet,
 you would need to check with them.
