 I see that this was reported earlier today at
 http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/3838 and resolved.

 However, I have changed the preferences for the directory .purple and the
 file blist.xml~ and have run chkdsk at the cmd prompt and on start up.
 This has not fixed the problem for me.

 My only clue to what the problem may be is that the directory "Application
 Data" does not show up in the DOS command line, or in the windows
 directory lists. I can see it when I use cygwin and it is not a hidden
 directory.

 I have manually edited the blist.xml file to keep the changes that I would
 like to make to my buddy list and have saved it separately, but since
 pidgin does not import from blist.xml, this is not yet much use to me.
