Comment:
Every time I open Pidgin, it opens with two contact groups which it names
"Friends". One contains all but two of my contacts, the other holds the
remaining two. When I close Pidgin, it saves the two groups to blist.xml,
using the codes <group name='Friends'> and <group name='uFriends'>,
the second of which is the corruption in the xml file.
I have tried moving the contacts into the Friends group (where I want
them) and then deleting the group and I have simply deleted the group,
including the contacts. I have also tried removing the buddies from my
friends list entirely and then deleting the redundant group.
With all these attempts, Pidgin opens without the error message on the
next opening, but also restores the duplicate friend group with its two
contacts and then saves a corrupt xml file the next time I close it. The
next time it opens, I get the above error and all the aliases and
orderings that I have added to my friends list have been removed.
Renaming the second Friends group has removed the error message
altogether, Pidgin is no longer saving a corrupt xml file, but it will
still not allow me to move the two contacts out of the group which I do
not want them to be in, or to delete the unwanted group.
