 I've found that Pidgin will "die" when I use Task Manager or "Process
 Explorer" to kill it, although it takes an extended period of time for it
 to go.

 Having read ticket [http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/3893], I have done
 some other tests. I have removed several Winamp plugins, and I have tried
 closing several applications (see below) before running Pidgin. None of
 these steps have helped.

 * Yahoo Widgets
 * Winamp
 * Rocket Dock
 * Netmeter
 * Rainlendar2

 Using "Process Explorer" if I look at the Pidgin process properties and
 click the "Bring to front" button, I am given an error which says: "No
 visible windows found for this process".

 Does any of this information give you any clues?
