 Okay, I compiled a version of 2.3.0 into a kind of kubuntu package, purged
 my other pidgin packages and installed this, so I could run "pidgin -d"
 and get you the additional info (I assume there was not enough in the
 previous log since there were no updates after that). I am going to have
 to undo all that (since I need pidgin-encryption and that won't reinstall
 without replacing my compiled copy of pidgin with the 2.2.1 package) but I
 saved the 2.3.0 package I made so I should be able to redo it if that
 becomes necessary.
