#3486: Plugin Doesn't Start Automatically

I just installed Ubuntu Gutsy Beta, which now comes with Pidgin (I was a
Gaim user before as that was included with Feisty). I haven't installed
any plugin packs, so I believe this is a default plugin that comes with
 Pidgin.

When I used to use Gaim, the window I was instant messaging in
automatically blinked when I had an unread message (I had not yet focused
on it). It now seems that feature is gone in Pidgin and has been put into
a plugin instead. When I activate the plugin, it works perfectly fine,
however I'd like it to start again automatically after I close the program
and open it again. Instead it is turned off again, and I have to check
the plugin again so it will work.

I presume plugin's are supposed to start on reload automatically, so I am
wondering why this isn't happening in my case. I wasn't sure if it was a
permission issue, so I changed the permissions to 777 on all the files in
 /usr/lib/pidgin , but that didn't do anything.

 Any help would be appreciated.

 Thanks
