 The paned widget we use for this is capable of being resized and of
 remembering its sizing, which is how we handle remembering the
 history/input sizing for example. I imagine it might make some sense to
 use that sizing to handle showing/hiding the userlist rather than calling
 gtk_widget_{show,hide}. Ideally, as sadrul says, this would be a per-
 conversation option and as such might make more sense as a plugin which
 triggered on conversation creation to set the size.
