Comment (by deryni):

The fact that pidgin doesn't apply a status on a protocol that does not
support it is *not* a bug. The fact that pidgin doesn't implement an XMPP
extension which adds a form of invisible support *is* a feature request.
The fact that pidgin doesn't indicate to you that not all of your accounts
have taken the status (or the entirety) of the status that you selected is
not optimal but is not a bug. Keep in mind that on protocols which do not
support a custom text message for a status when you set it one for that
status in pidgin we silently ignore the message since we can't set it,
that is exactly what is happening here, the only reason this issue is
striking you with more force is that you are attempting to use
invisibility in an unfortunately common usage pattern and are particularly
annoyed with what this misses. Someone who *really* wanted their status
message to be set would equally be concerned with their usage and not at
 all with yours.

You are free to consider this whatever you want, I am stating that from a
classification status on my end this report *as reported* is not a bug. As
stated, however, reports requesting the improvement of accessory
information to make this situation less surprising would be perfectly
 reasonable.
