 You have an answer in one of the tickets about the system beep that occurs
 when you press too many keys at once, or press backspace while focused on
 an empty message box. The files it refers to no longer exist in 2.2.2,
 instead i've found that modifying

 %APPDATA%\.purple\prefs.xml

 to include

 <pref name='gtk-error-bell' type='bool' value='0'/>


 This should be a default by now. Come on, when you use pidgin and
 something pisses you off by interacting with it it should get fixed as a
 top priority, above adding new features. If other people get annoyed with
 it, they wont care what features it has.
