#3120: auto-reply sent in the middle of active conversations

I'm not sure if this is protocol-specific (I don't see why it would be),
but I use pidgin to connect to the AIM protocol.

I have configured my preferences to not report my idle time, and to auto-
 reply when away.

In older versions (GAIM), after changing my status to 'Away', this
configuration would cause an auto-reply to be sent to people who start a
conversation with me, but not to those with whom I am in an active
 conversation.

I am finding it rather annoying to be in an active conversation and having
my away-message text pop up every once in a while. It is not appropriate
to change my status to 'Available', since I am not available for all
 conversation in these cases.

I've changed my preferences to only send an auto-reply when away and idle.
Since I never go idle, this effectively disables sending an auto-reply
altogether, which is not the desired behavior.

Please bring the GAIM behavior back?

 Thank You
