 I had a similar problem. Yahoo not connecting. Appended a line from log
 below: (13:03:28) proxy: Error connecting to scs.msg.yahoo.com:5050
 (Windows socket error #10061).

 Ok. Now the resolution I found. I had changed my buddy icon to a jpeg file
 with dimensions 1600*1200 size 744KB.

 Removed the buddy icon from the account & reconnected.

 It worked...
