 Thanks for the info, but I did already try to dmz my computer with pidgin
 running. To be sure it's not firewall related though, I tried it on
 another computer that is on my home network, and it's working fine. I
 don't believe that I have to punch any holes through any firewall, as it
 didn't require that when it was working to start with. I have a feeling
 that it's computer specific that the problem lies. Now what it could be,
 well that's hard to say, so I ran an experiment by running it on a VM
 machine on my same pc, and that also has been working fine. so it would
 really appear that for some unknown reason, that it's out of the blue
 stopped working with no interference from me that would cause it to do so.
 That is what is so weird about this problem. Any other suggestions for me
 to try ?
