 I just tried this with Pidgin 2.2.0 and the problem still exists for me.
 Windows XP SP2.  History and Windows Pidgin Options plug-ins loaded.

 And I don't know if it matters anymore (the problems seem fixed), but I
 have Cygwin installed in my system and have some it's /bin dir in my PATH.

 If there is anything I can do to help you track this down, I'd be happy to
 find the information out for you.
