 Ah, well that does seem less ignorable than the GNU TLS equivalent I was
 getting. It was a minor unexpected packet length error.

 Rereading your post and patch again, and thinking about what happens with
 the GNU TLS equivalent, I think your patch might be a good fix for both
 issues. I'll need to look at it in the context of the actual code though
 (and when I'm more awake).
