#5380: backup accounts before updating, how?

If I hadn't been synchronizing my USB Key, I would have lost my logon
information to the 2.4.1 update wiping out my information... I want to
keep my logs and my accounts information without having to lose the logs
nor try to get ICQ to let me use my account again... let alone digging out
 my account info again.
Which files have that information in them? Can we back those off to
another location and restore them after an update? (Frankly, I am of the
opinion that said info should not get over-written with each new point
rev. Hell, if I have to keep going through this loss and re-add of the two
basic pieces for which I use Pidgin in the first place, I think I may just
go back to Trillian. At least with Trillian, I knew my logs and account
information would stay intact from one update to the next. Makes me
reticent to update.) How can keep my logs and acct info from one update to
the next? Which files does it reside in? This is a question that is valid
for both standard and portable Pidgin. Please advise, thanks!
