 Yes, we could add the ability to display both the local and remote aliases
 at the same time. I just don't really think it matters most of the time
 (and only matters on MSN because the lack of a real status message caused
 friendly name abuse). I am in favor of doing things to discourage such
 abuse (especially because the protocol supports status messages now
 (pidgin doesn't yet, but that's a different story). If you are able to
 write a patch for this and submit it, I won't prevent it from being
 applied (but I can't say whether anyone else will want it applied either).
