 Ok...  having read them all in detail I'll put a point on it:

 I need a splitter pane that goes from 0 to 100% of the size of the parent
 pane.  I need to be able to paste and review 60 lines of code at one
 whack.  I turn off tabbed, I turn off sound and smileys, I turn on OTR.  I
 don't use colors, I don't use fonts.

 If I could have the send and recv panes in separate windows where my
 window manager controls the size of each I'd take it.
