 I too registered an account to protest this change.

 I'd intended to do so in the harshest terms possible but it's pretty clear
 from
 the other comments that there's been plenty of spleen vented on the poor
 hapless
 guy that did this.

 Being a working programmer I normally run at very high resolutions with
 small fonts.
 This thing is NASTY when running at 1600x1200 on a 15" 4:3 LCD or
 1920x1200 on 15.4" 16:9.

 I don't know if it show arrogance but there's this thing called "the
 principle of least astonishment": don't shock the monkey.

 In the meantime I'm rebuilding the 2.2.2 SRPM that originally came with
 Fedora 8 and have
 blacklisted Pidgin updates until this gets fixed.
