Very nicely said, but I think all our comments have fallen on deaf ears,
 or should I say, non-caring and non-compromising developers. [comment:222
sim-on] has re-enforced their non-caring/non-compromising nature in his
 latest reply:

 "[http://sf.net/projects/funpidgin/ funpidgin]" where auto-resizing is
disabled. And you are free to use them or reinstall
 [http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=235&package_id=230234&release_id=559922
 2.3.1].'''

Still "our way or the highway", it seems. This what you call
"compromising"?? This is what you call "we care"??

We want manual resize built-in the base program that is easy to activate
(by default ideally, or at least a very easy to find option - ideally
right there on the conversation window) and provided for out-of-the-box
(on install of pidgin - not via additional download and install, not by
 recompiling, etc).

If we didn't mind relying on a fork like
[http://sf.net/projects/funpidgin/ funpidgin] just for this little, but
basic UI functionality, we would not need to keep arguing with you guys
here. I am using funpidgin, but I shouldn't have to. We are still
waiting for YOUR compromise (a plugin - whether installed with pidgin or
 not, a fork, a "bug-fixed" auto-resize, a previous version... are not
compromises). We want manual, you want auto. Can we meet in the middle
via an OPTION? PLEASE? Can you guys just show a LITTLE flexibility?
