Comment:

 The initial post of this ticket indicates that 2.2.2 had it, and as I said
 in my comment you shouldn't need to actually install 2.2.2 just grab the
 plugin .dll file out of the installer (or build it yourself) and have
 2.4.1 use that version of the plugin (it should work) just long enough to
 write the gtkrc file with those settings. Then you can remove the old
 version of the plugin, backup the gtkrc file (reading it to see what it
 looks like in the process) and start using the newer version of the plugin
 again. (Also, the old version is by no means "fully functional" as it
 doesn't include the number of options that have been added since then
 which the new version does. Which was largely the point of my "interface
 needs creating" comment as I'll explain in a minute).

 You missed my point with the interface creation comment. My point was that
 the plugin is not a solution to the gtkrc setting problem it is (and was
 always intended as) an introduction and a primer. The reason it is not a
 solution is that any changes going forward require constant updating of
 the plugin whereas the text file will always work and can always have
 anything added to it as new features are added. And as to removing them,
 given the fact that four new options were added and that the dialog is
 already quite tall removing two options was quite likely done (at least in
 part) to save space (without complicating the dialog with tabs or what-
 not). And it is exactly that constant fight about what should and should
 not be in the dialog and what should and should not be where that is nice
 to avoid.

 I have no intention of bringing this back, but if you want to create a
 wiki page about the various gtkrc sections that can be used I would
 support the effort.

 Oh, and before I forget there is a FAQ entry with exactly the things you
 need to know to create a gtkrc file to control the fonts in the
 conversation window (not to mention that we have an example gtkrc file in
 the source tarball).

 I'm going to close this ticket (as wontfix) as I have no intention of
 bringing the options back because I don't much care and because it is not
 difficult to do manually. I am all for making a pidgin-specific gtkrc
 explanation page on the wiki to talk about these sorts of things if
 someone wanted to start one.
