 Thank you deryni for your response. Would it be possible to escape any
 invalid characters or spaces when passing it to libtool? What about just
 doing a quick check on the current directory to see if it contains a space
 and dying if it has one before it goes to libtool? Would it be possible
 that there may be other characters other than a space that would cause an
 error like this?
