 You are correct, I did find chatname at chatserver.tld%2fbuddyname  file with
 the info the other user sent me in ~/.purple/logs/jabber/... directory.

 I am not clear on the above statement. I guess that buddy first joins the
 server (thereby getting listed in the buddy list) and then joins the chat
 room. So it is not clear my those two 'avatars' or 'identities' are
 unrelated for logging purposes ? I guess I am missing something here.

 Anyway, even assuming somehow the avatars have become disjoint, what is
 the solution for these scenarios ? A solution is needed to:
 1. Identify such a message has been received (in my case, I knew it was
 sent)
 2. A way to have me view that log when needed.
