 After the installation-process completed I tried to start pidgin.
 It crashed at once with the following error message:

 Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library:
 Runtime Error!
 Program c:\programme\pidgin\pidgin.exe
 This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
 Please contact the application's support team for more information.

 There is no further output - neither at the shell nor to pidgin.rpt (the
 file does not exisist at all). The windows event-logging doesn't give any
 further information.

 The problem exists in the normal version as well as in the debug vesion.
