 On 2008-01-01, at 00:00, Pidgin posted my status message into all open
 conversation tabs (both user2user chats as well as channels with several
 people).

 I never saw this problem again, but it was the only time until now that I
 had a status message when a new year began.

 I think this is related to the year change. It happened on several
 protocols: XMPP, ICQ, IRC and MSN
