 It's important to note that the alert disappears Pidgin receives a
 "composing" event.  Even if you have it set to flash continuously, it
 won't do any good if the flashing stops when Pidgin gets a notice that the
 user on the other end is typing (or closed the window, or is no longer
 paying attention, etc).  I think the problem for many people isn't that it
 flashes three times and stays highlighted, I think the problem is that
 there's no visual indication that you received a new message if the person
 on the other end closes their IM window.
