#6663: "Protocol" is a wee bit geeky when setting up an account

Comment(by mpt):

 chemistrydioxide, it's generally inefficient for an option menu (or a set
 of radio buttons) to default to "please choose" or something similar that
 isn't a valid choice. Rarely it's necessary, when having a default would
 be dangerous or unfair (for example, voting in an election), but not here.
 Defaulting to "AIM" means some fraction of users (20%? 30%?) never need to
 use the menu; defaulting to "please choose" would mean ''everyone'' had to
 use it, making them less efficient on average.

 kahlil88, in general, making software understandable to more people
 (without even removing any features!) is making it smarter, not dumber. If
 Pidgin often used the word "protocol" elsewhere in its interface, then
 requiring people to learn the instant-messaging meaning of that word would
 make them more efficient later by reducing the number of words they had to
 read. But the only other place Pidgin features the word "protocol", that I
 can see, is in the column heading in the "Accounts" window, so I don't
 think the investment is worth it.
