 my MSN username is a gmail email address with a "." in it - for instance
 (this is fake), my.email at gmail.com

 my password does not contain any special characters.

 you ask if i have ever used my address with MSN 8+.  can you elaborate?  I
 can sign into the web with it, and it works in Pidgin v2.4.3.

 i have used the same username on msn live messenger in the past but that
 could be up to a year ago now.
