 It looks like you removed part of the log before pasting it, but assuming
 all you removed was pidgin sending the initial stream stanza that's fine,
 if you removed any part of the server's response it would be helpful if
 you could paste it.

 From what I can see of the log so far it looks like the server is failing
 to return any stream features which means pidgin is going to attempt to
 fall back to old-style authentication, which your server is apparently
 rejecting.

 Also, do you happen to know if the server you are trying to connect to is
 running a *very* old version of whatever server software it is running?
