 I think i stated the summary a bit wrong :)

 Why not an option to sync contact icon with one of the contained buddies?

 I just don't like the fact, that having multile buddies merged into one
 contact means that there's no icon (at least not when the buddies list is
 collapsed) even though all of the contained buddies have one, and the only
 choice is to use one from a filesystem.
