 Actually, the only other place in libpurple that calls
 purple_conv_im_set_typing_state but not purple_conv_im_update_typing is
 the psychic plugin, and that seems bogus there too, so I guess we can just
 call it from purple_conv_im_set_typing_state.

 New patch coming...
