#4842: IRC with IRC-proxy/bouncer leaves channels when quiting Pidgin
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------

Version: 2.3.1 | Keywords: irc irc-proxy quit leave

I wish to use Pidgin with IRC-proxy (miau: http://miau.sourceforge.net/ )
Setup/functionality:
- Miau (irc-proxy) connects to IRCNet and FreeNet
- Miau will keep the connections and channels online
- Several different clients can connect even simultaneously to the irc-
proxy
- When a client /joins to a #channel, all the clients will see the
#channel
- When a client /parts an #channel, the #channel is removed from the irc-
proxy and
is not enabled to the clients as well
- When a client /quits , the channels will still be online for other
clients
All of these work well with XChat, irssi etc IRC clients
Problem:
When Pidgin client (tested on Maemo and Windows) /quits the application,
Pidgin send /part or /leave to all the #channels as well. This should not
happen as it will disable the irc-proxy functionality.
I tried to look for an solution from the preferences and plugins, but
failed to find any. Please help with the issue as Pidgin client looks
pretty nice.
Usecase:
- I'm connected to irc-proxy with my laptop. When going outside, I
would like to use Nokia N810 with pidgin as an client to connect to the
irc-proxy and continue my current irc-sessions.
Workaround: To use Xchat...
