 We would also like to see this option added.  We are behind a BASIC
 authentication proxy (as noted in pidgin231_debug.txt).  Although a
 compile-time option would work, we think it would be better implemented as
 a radio button/check box in the GUI.

 FYI, this debug was captured on a RHEL5.1 box with the CentOS/RHEL RPMs
 downloaded from the Pidgin Repo.
