 I have experienced having my Jabber accounts turn off mysteriously also.

 Based on this error report, I tried the following:
 - Started Pidgin.
 - Disconnected my network.
 - Closed pidgin
 - Connected my network.
 - Started pidgin.

 Lo and behold, one of my Jabber accounts is now not enabled.

 Strangely, the log file for the server in .system says I'm logged in and
 the status of users shows up.

 There is a message at the bottom of the buddy window that says
 "[account]/Gaim disabled" "SSL Connection Failed".

 Quit and restart of Pidgin continues to get the "SSL Connection Failed".
 (Yes, I use SSL for the connection).

 Finally clicking the checkbox to enable that jabber login fixes the
 problem.

 Kinda weird.

 Sounds like pidgin is getting into a wedged state.
